CHELSEA MIGHT WIN

Alan Pardew has failed to dismiss Chelsea’s chances of winning the title ahead of the meeting with the blues at Stamford Bridge. Newcastle will be making the visit to London where they have enjoyed a good record in recent years. Their most recent win came in 2012, while Alan Pardew’s men will also be looking to complete the double this campaign.

Newcastle beat Chelsea 2-0 earlier in the campaign, but the omens are not looking good this time around. Newcastle have been on a very poor run of form, which has seen them get only one victory in the last six matches.

This is the worst in the Premier league right now. Further, Chelsea come into the encounter on the back of their impressive 1-0 win over title rivals Manchester City at Etihad stadium. It was a display that confirmed Chelsea’s title contenders, but Jose Mourinho has been noncommittal about the chances of the blues lifting the fourth league title. He says that Arsenal and Manchester City will remain the firm favourites, but Pardew does not agree with those statements.

“I don’t believe that for one minute – and I think deep down, nor does Jose. It’s an important period because we have got two really tough games. I think everybody would appreciate that – but we really do need to put a performance on the pitch that contains enthusiasm, desire and a real purpose, and that’s what we are going to do. You have to defend well,” said Pardew to the arsenal fc news website.

Newcastle, though, have a mountain to climb irrespective of Chelsea’s title chances given that they have lost a number of influential players like Yohan Cabaye in recent times. Pardew is also struggling with a lot of injuries at the moment. Newcastle are close to slipping out of the top 10 of the table.
