ASTON VILLA CONSIDER CHALOBAH MOVE

Championship outfit Aston Villa are said to be preparing a loan move for newly signed Watford midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah following a poor start to life at Vicarage Road.

The Englishman made the switch to Watford from West London outfit Chelsea in 2017 for a deal thought to be up to $5m.

Chalobah had a difficult spell at Stamford Bridge as he failed to break into the first team, been shipped out on loan to different clubs during this period.

A player initially touted by fans and the media alike to be the next Frank Lampard, the 24 year old midfielder never really lived up to expectations at Chelsea, constantly failing to grind out performances consistently.

He was finally let go by the club in the summer of 2017 as Watford came knocking on the door, in search of some depth in midfield. He has also failed to hit the ground running at Vicarage Road as was the case at the Bridge.

Chalobah has managed 10 appearances for the Hornets this season but it is worth noting that the Englishman has not started a single Premier League game since the loss to Manchester City in early December.

The Aston-Villa target is an England international, marking his international debut in a Nations League game against Spain last October, albeit as a substitute.

With Villa head coach Dean Smith keen on bringing in some new faces at Villa Park to strengthen what is perceived to be a weak midfield, Chalobah is definitely an option for the gaffer.

Aston Villa are pushing for a return to Premier League football and the signing of Watford’s Nathaniel Chalobah is widely expected to assist them in their plight.

They are currently 10th on the Championship table, just four points adrift the play-off places and fans can now begin to dream of Premier League football come next season.
