Stephen Warnock Believes Aston Villa Do Not Belong in the Championship

Former Aston Villa defender Stephen Warnock reckons that the club certainly belong in the Premier League and not in the Championship.

It has gone horribly wrong for the Midlands outfit over the last few years. After flirting with relegation for almost 3 seasons, the club finally ended up in the Championship at the end of last season. As a player who used to represent Villa for a number of years, Warnock is surprised by the decline of the club. However, he expects Villa to bounce back strongly even though they have struggled for form this season.

As one of the few teams to have won the European cup in England, Villa had the reputation of having the gone down into the second division of English football since the Premier league was founded in 1992. More than the club’s relegation, it was the disappointing start to the campaign in the Championship that proved to be the biggest disappointment since many were expecting Villa to challenge for the title straightaway. Louis Van Gaal happy with Squad

Louis Van Gaal believes that the main reason behind Manchester United performing much better this season is that there is more balance in the squad now.

The Red Devils have won 5 out of their 7 games in the Premier League 2015-16.

They topped the table last weekend when they defeated the Black Cats at home.

Speaking post that win, Van Gaal said, “This is a good bunch of players. But, wins are never guaranteed. We might lose somewhere down the line. Luck plays its part as well. But, one thing is for sure is that we have got more balance in the squad this time around and thus, we should be having more positive results.”

“Improvement is something that we should always look for. We have to keep getting better and better with each passing week.”

“As far as I am concerned, rotating the players is much easier for me. If you had observed the previous season, I didn’t opt for much rotation as the balance was not there. So, I would say I am more comfortable now. But, you can only do so much as manager. It’s the players who hold the key. If the structure that is there in place is acceptable to everyone or not, that is very important. At the moment, I am doing my job and the players are doing their job fantastically well too.” Continue reading Louis Van Gaal happy with Squad
