Liverpool vs Leipzig: Team News And Predictions For UCL Clash

All eyes are on Liverpool as they return to European football in the UEFA Champions League. The last two season’s Champions are currently going through a torrid period and have played their worst games of football this season in a very long time. The current Premier League holders are certain to have lost their crown and will look for how they can appease their fans by going as far as they can go in the Champions League.

The Reds face a test in their aim to secure qualification to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League as they are pitted against German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig who they face in the second leg of their round of 16 encounter.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp did his best to rotate his squad as he made as many as seven changes between his side’s two games against Chelsea and Fulham, which both ended in miserable losses. That number was a record for Klopp who had, until then, never made such a huge number of changes to his teams for back-to-back games.

Rhys Williams, Neco Williams, and Nat Phillips all started at the back for Jurgen Klopp’s men in their loss to Chelsea while in midfield, Naby Keita, Thiago Alcantara, and James Milner all got the nod.

Diogo Jota returned to the team for the first time since getting injured back in December, led the attack alongside Curtis Jones, and attack, Xherdan Shaqiri. Mohamed Salah, who has been linked with a Liverpool exit is expected to return for this clash, and Firmino may also return if he is passed fit as he will be undergoing assessments ahead of kick-off.

Liverpool welcome Leipzig to their fallen home but have their 2-0 away advantage to thank heading into the tie.

Liverpool Predicted XI:

Alisson, Alexander-Arnold, Philips, Fabinho, Robertson, Jones, Thiago, Wijnaldum, Salah, Firmino, Mane
